A matching pair of antique gimbaled yacht or ship's candle lamps.Â
Constructed from brass with a circular bulkhead / wall mounting bracket with gimbal mechanism to keep the light upright regardless of the heel angle of the vessel. These lamps were designed to burn tallow candles and have a sprung loaded body. Height of lamp 9.5" / 25cm. ( excluding glass chinmeys )
This type of mid 19th century nautical light was probably from an early elegant steamship or a classic gentleman's yacht. This type of lamp could also be used on a table in calm weather.
